There are 4 steps to the ideal welcome for every new donor. The first thing that should happen after a donation is made is an immediate canned response that confirms the donation. Then, preferably with in a couple hours, a personalized email should be received shortly there after. Next, within a couple of days, a welcome pack that is heavy on imagery and informative bits should be sent in the mail. The final step, one that you may or may not do depending on staff and time, is follow-up with a call so your organization is able to gather information on things like why they decided to make the donation.
